Did you ever wonder how TV and movie producers make all that thick, heavy white smoke for the cemetery and horror scenes? You can demonstrate it and also show some of its properties.

MATERIALS: Dry ice, water, large glasses, tongs, hammer candle and match.

HOW TO DO IT: Demonstrate the thick, white, cloudy smoke by simply putting the pieces of dry ice in glasses and putting water into the glasses. The violent bubbling indicates a rapidly forming and escaping gas. The cloudy gas coming out of the glasses should immediately go downward.
